TAMPA - A 46-year-old Zephyrhills man was arrested this week, accused of posing as a Hillsborough County sheriff's deputy in a lingerie shop.
Troy Martin Fonder, 36645 Sunshine Road, was arrested Wednesday on a warrant out of Hillsborough charging him with one count of falsely impersonating a law enforcement officer.
Fonder was arrested in Zephyrhills and booked into the Pasco County Jail. He was released Wednesday night after posting $7,500 bail, jail records show.
Hillsborough sheriff's spokesman J.D. Callaway said that Fonder went into a lingerie shop on the west side of the county and handed an employee an old sheriff's office business card.
"He said he wanted to make contact with a dancer there," Callaway said. After he gave the card to the employee, he left, Callaway said.
The spokesman would not say how deputies focused on Fonder as a suspect in the case, and he did not identify the business involved.
