McCarthy Says Carrey Is An 'Autism Whisperer'

Published: September 22, 2007

Jenny McCarthy worried about finding a good man after her son, Evan, was diagnosed with autism two years ago. Then Jim Carrey came along.

'Beyond doubt it was written in the stars that Jim and Evan were a pair,' the 34-year-old actress tells People magazine in its Oct. 1 issue.

'He's actually helped Evan get past some obstacles I couldn't. I sometimes call him the autism whisperer. He speaks a language Evan understands, and Evan feels safe with him.'

McCarthy and Carrey, 45, went public with their romance last year. Though she's in love, McCarthy has no plans to marry the twice-divorced actor.

'There will be no certificate,' she says. 'It goes far deeper than that. Jim came into our life with an open heart and open arms. He's learned a lot about autism. He listens. The power of listening. It can move mountains.'

Snoop Dogg Gets Felony Conviction
Snoop Dogg pleaded guilty Thursday to one count of felony possession of a dangerous weapon and was sentenced to 160 hours of community service and three years' probation, his attorney said.

Snoop Dogg, 35, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, was arrested in September 2006 after the discovery of a collapsible baton in his computer bag at John Wayne Airport in Orange County.

Authorities said it was a dangerous weapon. He said it was a prop for a video he was filming in New York.

His attorney, Donald Etra, said the felony conviction would be reduced to a misdemeanor after one year if Snoop Dogg does not violate the law.

'We are very pleased with the outcome,' Etra said. 'Snoop's goal is to make music, not make court appearances.'
Regis Philbin Loses The Relly Awards
Regis Philbin can't get a break.

The 76-year-old talk-show host was overlooked yet again for the 'Best Regis' award during the fifth annual Relly Awards, announced Friday on 'Live With Regis and Kelly.'

'A loser again - four straight years,' said Philbin. The 'Best Regis' category was introduced in 2004.

The honors went to Neil Patrick Harris, who was among the show's guest hosts while Philbin was recovering from triple heart bypass surgery earlier this year.

The Rellys, which include categories such as 'Favorite Real Person' and 'Best Wild & Wacky,' were created as an antidote to the show's failure to win a Daytime Emmy.

Hey, Ho, Let's Go ... To Court

A drummer who spent four years in one of the greatest punk bands of all time, the Ramones, filed a federal lawsuit Friday claiming he is owed nearly $1 million in royalties on songs sold over the Internet.

Richard 'Richie Ramone' Reinhardt, who performed with the Ramones between 1983 and 1987, sued Wal-Mart Stores Inc., Apple Inc., RealNetworks Inc., the band's management and the estate of its lead guitarist, claiming he had never fully signed over the rights to the six songs he wrote for the group.

Specifically, Reinhardt said there was never any written deal authorizing the sale of those songs digitally. He said he is owed at least $900,000 in royalties, and asked the court to issue an injunction preventing further use of his compositions without permission.
