Heart Rides Along With Horsepower

SPRING HILL - Avid bikers may not always obey every rule of etiquette, but that doesn't mean they don't have compassion.

They know how to come together for a common cause. Last weekend they did so, raising money for the American Cancer Society and awareness for breast cancer.

The risque-titled 'Bikers for the Bodacious Ta Tas' was held Sept. 15. Members of the Pasco and Tampa chapters of the Diva Angels registered and then rode from the Harley-Davidson dealership in New Port Richey to the Blue Moon Restaurant at the Good Shepherd Medical Plaza in Spring Hill.

'The days of bad ... bikers who tell you to stay out of their way no longer exist,' said Diva Angel Mary Moran. 'Not in Pasco County.'

At least 120 bikers participated in the ride, which was mostly a northern route along U.S. 19.

Members of the local Italian Angels, a men's biker group, also participated.

'I think this is awesome,' said Jean Harberts of the American Cancer Society, who is more used to heart walks and more conventional fundraisers. 'It actually gave me goose bumps seeing them pull up.'

Rosemary Archambault of Holiday wanted to participate on behalf of her friend, who is recovering from an advanced stage of cancer.

'She's the reason why I did it,' she said. 'One of my best friends is a stage four breast cancer survivor. So, yeah, she's a walking miracle.'
