BRADENTON - Jeff Brinson racked up his third 300-yard game in four contests, rushing for 317 yards and three touchdowns to lead Northeast to a 49-7 win against Bradenton Southeast on Friday. The win pushes the Vikings' record to 4-0, while Southeast fell to 0-3.
But Brinson just shrugged his shoulders at the result.
'I tell everybody that my line is a Cadillac and I'm just along for the ride,' the soft-spoken Brinson said.
'Whatever college gets him is getting a prize,' Vikings coach Jay Austin said. Brinson has offers on the table from Pac-10 and Big Ten schools.
After getting modest gains - for Brinson's standards - on his first few carries, Brinson put the Vikings up for good on the first play of Northeast's second possession. Brinson took a handoff from his own 20, ran right, cut left, broke tackles from seemingly most of the Seminoles defenders and jogged into the end zone for an 80-yard score.
Brinson would later smash and slice his way through the Southeast defenders for runs of 12, 77, 39 and 52 yards before being pulled late in the third quarter after his third touchdown, a 1-yard run, put Northeast ahead 42-7.
'He is a little bit faster than advertised and he's as strong as I feared he would be,' Southeast coach Paul Maechtle said of Brinson. 'He's an awfully good player.'
Leading 21-7 at halftime, the Vikings poured it on in the third quarter, scoring 28 points, including two Brinson touchdowns. Officials had a running clock in the fourth period.

AVON PARK 10, HARDEE 7: The host Red Devils stunned previously undefeated and defending Class 4A-District 10 champion Hardee. Hardee's Jayquan Gandy ran for a 64-yard touchdown in the first quarter to account for the Wildcats points.
FROSTPROOF 35, SEBRING 0: Senior tailback Carlton Thomas rushed for 221 yards and scored three touchdowns and quarterback Donald Brown rushed for two touchdowns to lead Frostproof.
