BROOKSVILLE - There were no surprises Saturday as Leeann Eble, Felix Soto and the Gulf High girls won titles at the fifth annual Zak Lukas Cross Country Invitational at Hernando High.
Pasco High's Eble won the girls title in a time of 20 minutes, 14 seconds. She was pushed by Seven Rivers seventh-grader Chloe Benoist, who finished second in a time of 20:22. Wiregrass Ranch freshman Ariel Grey was third at 20:32.
Land O' Lakes High's Soto won the boys race with a time of 16:21. Hernando's Tyler Maier was second with a time of 16:51, and Ridgewood's Steven Landreth was third in 16:58.
Soto improved his time from last week's Gator Invitational by 11 seconds.
The Gulf High girls won the team title with 56 points. Crystal River was second with 83 points, while Wesley Chapel took third with 98.
Crystal River won the boys title with 50 points. Land O' Lakes High was second with 61, and Ridgewood took third with 106.
