LAKE WALES - A 17-year-old died after a crash late Saturday near Lake Wales, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.
The wreck took place shortly after 11 p.m. at the intersection of State Road 60 and Lake Wales Road, the report states.
According to the report:
Tiffany Pitts, 18, of 114 12th Wahneta St. W. in Winter Haven, was driving a 1995 Pontiac north on Lake Wales Road with three teenage passengers.
Reyes Cortez de la Cruz, 24, of 1101 N. Franklin St. in Plant City, was traveling west on S.R. 60 in a 1997 Volkswagen.
He crashed into the Pontiac after Pitts drove through a stop sign, according to the FHP report. He was taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center.
Pitts and two of her passengers, Shannon Pitts and Nicole Mallette, both 16, were taken to local hospitals, the report states. The third passenger, Morgan Brown, 17, was killed.
Hospital representatives would not provide health condition updates, citing requests from the families.
