Alexa Donini is the standout setter and captain of the Durant High volleyball team. She is considering playing at Florida Atlantic University and holds the school record for most aces in a match with 25.
What do you do in your spare time?
I play volleyball all year long, so I don't have much free time. But when I do, I just hang out with friends, go to the movies, go shopping. ... I love to shop.
What's your favorite subject in school?
English. I like to write.
So, do you want to become a writer someday?
No. Actually I want to do something with sports medicine ... like be a trainer.
Your team hasn't made it past the region quarterfinals in two years. How much does the team want to advance past the first round?
This team has a lot of heart. We want it really bad, and we're willing to do anything. We practice on Saturdays, we practice six days a week, and we said at the beginning of the year that we want to go to states. That's what we're going to do, and that's what we're doing.
What is something people would not know about you?
A lot of people think I'm really quiet. I am kind of quiet, but on the court, I like to get fired up and I like to get the team fired up. Everyone feeds off of everyone else.
