TAMPA - University of South Florida C Nick Capogna, who injured his left knee early in the season opener, practiced Monday, but Coach Jim Leavitt said it's unlikely he will be ready for Friday's Big East opener with No. 5 West Virginia.
"He practiced a little bit," Leavitt said. "He wants to play, but it's going to be hard to do."
Without Capogna, junior Jake Griffin, who started the opener at left guard, will make his third consecutive start at center.
Also, LT Marc Dile (neck stinger), who didn't play the second half against North Carolina, did not practice but is expected to play, Leavitt said.
LB Chris Robinson (ankle) continues to get into football shape, but Leavitt said it'sthe talent in front of him that has kept Robinson relegated to the bench.
"Chris has beenplaying a little bit," Leavitt said. "But you have to realize[Tyrone] McKenzie's been playing pretty good and so have our D-ends. Chris lost a month of practice time. It's hard to come back from that."
NOT SOLD OUT … YET: USF senior associate AD Bill McGillis said there are still "very good seats still available" for Friday's game.
USF is offering a three-game mini-pack - where individuals can purchase tickets to three of the remaining four home games. There are still a few dozen of those available.
At some point, today or Wednesday, the school will release the remaining seats to be purchased on an individual game basis.
McGillis said the school increased its student ticket allotment from 12,000 to 12,501, giving USF the largest student allotment in the Big East. WVU's student allotment is 12,500.
Only a few hundred student tickets remained as of Monday night. The 8,000 lower level student tickets were gone by 10 a.m. Monday.
WVU sold 4,000 tickets, WVU spokesman Mike Montoro said.
