Corrections Officer Arrested

LARGO - Correctional officer Kevin Rix, 24, was arrested by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and Pinellas County Sheriff's narcotics detectives this afternoon.
A three month undercover operation determined that Rix provided drugs to inmates in exchange for cash according to an FDLE press release.
Rix was charged with unlawful compensation, introducing contraband into a prison system, and trafficking in cocaine. He is being held at the Pinellas County Jail.
Rix worked at the Largo Road Prison facility, located at 5201 Ulmerton Rd.
