Pro Bowl running back Deuce McAllister will miss the rest of the New Orleans Saints' season after tearing a knee ligament.

McAllister, 28, tore his left anterior cruciate ligament and injured his medial meniscus while attempting to catch a pass in the second quarter of the Saints' 31-14 loss to the Tennessee Titans on Monday night.

The Saints' all-time leading rusher has totaled 5,678 yards rushing and 44 touchdowns since he was selected in the first round of the 2001 NFL draft.

Also, starting cornerback Jason David will miss four to six weeks with a fractured left forearm.

Report: Bears To Bench Grossman On Sunday

CHICAGO - Rex Grossman reportedly will be benched by the Chicago Bears for Sunday's game at Detroit, with Brian Griese starting at quarterback.

Citing unidentified sources, NFL.com, the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Sun-Times reported that the beleaguered Grossman would sit when the Bears visit the Lions.

The Bears would not confirm that any decision has been made.

Grossman threw three interceptions as the Bears fell to the Dallas Cowboys 34-10 on national TV on Sunday night

BENGALS: Running back DeDe Dorsey signed a two-year contract in case Rudi Johnson isn't available for their game against New England because of a hamstring injury.

Dorsey entered the Indianapolis Colts' training camp as Joseph Addai's backup, but was released in the final roster cut. He has been recovering from a case of turf toe on his right foot suffered in the final preseason game. Cincinnati opened a roster spot by waiving rookie running back Clifton Dawson,

BILLS: Signed cornerback Jerametrius Butler in an attempt to plug a leaky and banged-up defense.

COWBOYS: Released kicker Martin Gramatica from their injured reserve list. He went on the list in training camp and the team's kicking duties went to rookie Nick Folk.

DOLPHINS: Prosecutors in Charlotte, N.C. will drop driving while impaired and reckless driving charges against Miami receiver Chris Chambers in a plea deal, his attorney said. Attorney George Laughrun said that under terms of the deal, he will enter a guilty plea for speeding on Chambers' behalf today. Chambers will not have to appear in court, meaning he will be available to practice with the Dolphins as scheduled.

49ERS: Changed punt returners, cutting Brandon Williams and signing Michael Lewis, the former beer truck driver who rose to fame with the New Orleans Saints.

STEELERS: Wide receiver Hines Ward has a sprained right knee and is doubtful for Sunday's game at Arizona. Ward has missed only three games due to injury in 10 NFL seasons, and Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday he hasn't ruled Ward out of the game.

TEXANS: Placed center Steve McKinney and defensive tackle Cedric Killings on injured reserve, ending their seasons, and signed David Anderson and Joel Dreessen. Killings remains hospitalized as he recovers from a vertebra fracture from a headfirst collision with Indianapolis receiver Roy Hall on Sunday. McKinney tore his left anterior cruciate ligament against the Colts.
