TAMPA - Eight more high-definition television channels are coming to Bright House Networks subscribers, including TBS, which will broadcast baseball's divisional playoffs and National League Championship Series.
The cable company announced Thursday that TBS in HD will be launched immediately, and seven addition HD channels will be rolled out over the next few weeks.
The other HD channels slated to be introduced are Food Network, History Channel, HGTV, Discovery Science, The Learning Channel, Discovery and Animal Planet. The channels will be included in the company's digital tier at no additional cost, according to a company spokesman.
With the new HD additions, Bright House Network's Tampa Bay Division will have 30 HD channels.
"The addition of these new HD channels is possible, in part, because of our recently announced channel moves," said Kevin Hyman, president of Bright House Networks' Tampa Bay Division. "By adjusting the channel lineup, we are able to take full advantage of our superior network, and the customer reaps the benefits."
Bright House is preparing a major reshuffling of its channel lineup on Dec. 11.
Company officials say the change is an effort to standardize channels throughout the Bright House service area, which includes Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Polk, Citrus, Hernando and Manatee counties. The realignment also involves relocating various public, education and government channels to the basic digital tier.
