'White Elephant' Sports Park

Next week the Hillsborough County Commission will vote on spending $40 million of county taxpayers' dollars on a questionable project: a new sports park. How they can justify this at a time of budget cuts elsewhere is puzzling.

Boosters say it will be a great return on investment. If that is so, why not let a private entity do it?

The reason is that the only way it can operate successfully is to have the support of better roads, etc., all which comes at a cost. That is the dirty little secret. Who will pay for these things? Any guesses? The taxpayers of Hillsborough County, that's who!

Wake up people and contact the commission and tell them to torpedo this white elephant while we still have the chance.
