Published: September 28, 2007

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville linebacker Willie A. Williams was kicked off the team Thursday, less than 24 hours after his arrest on a marijuana possession charge.

The 22-year-old was dismissed for violating his agreement with athletic director Tom Jurich.

Williams was one of the top recruits in the country two years ago, but highly publicized legal problems in high school - 11 arrests - nearly cost him a scholarship to Miami. He never panned out with the Hurricanes and spent last year at West Los Angeles Community College.

PITT TO START FRESHMAN: Pat Bostick, a high school senior a year ago, makes his first quarterback start for Pitt on Saturday at Virginia. Coach Dave Wannstedt didn't want to make this move so early in the season or Bostick's career, but an ineffective offense that is threatening to ruin Pitt's season left him little choice.

ARRESTED QB TO PRACTICE: Ohio State quarterback Antonio Henton, suspended indefinitely earlier this week after being arrested and accused of offering a female police officer $20 for sex, will be permitted to begin practicing with the team next week, coach Jim Tressel said Thursday.

Speaking after the eighth-ranked Buckeyes' practice, Tressel said the third-stringer will begin training with the team Monday - one week after Henton was arrested by Columbus police in an area just south of campus. He was charged with soliciting prostitution.

Henton did not practice with the team this week, and he will not make the trip to Minnesota on Saturday.

JONES ENROLLS AT CINCINNATI: Former Notre Dame quarterback Demetrius Jones enrolled Thursday at No. 24 Cincinnati, where he'll be eligible to run their no-huddle, spread offense next season.

Jones started Notre Dame's season opener against Georgia Tech and fumbled twice in the 33-3 defeat - the worst opening loss in Irish history.

BOISE STATE 38, SOUTHERN MISS 16: Ian Johnson rushed for 111 yards and three touchdowns to lead Boise State over Southern Mississippi.
