President Surprises Us
Regarding 'Academic Goes On Offensive Against Ahmadinejad' (Other Views, Sept. 25):
So, how do the politicians and the media feel now about Columbia University President Lee Bollinger?
All last week, as soon as Mr. Bollinger had announced that Mohmoud Ahmadinejad, President of Iran, had been invited to speak at Columbia, the politicians and collective media took Mr. Bollinger to task for extending an invitation to such a despicable person. Well, politicians and collective media, how do you like your crow cooked? You can eat it as soon as you wipe the egg off your face.
President Bollinger, in his opening remarks to Mr. Ahmadinejad, stated exactly what the vast majority of Americans would liked to have said too and about the 'Iranian Runt.' Mr. Bollinger spoke so eloquently, so precise, yet so plain that it left no doubt where he stood in his opinion of Mr. Ahmadinejad and his regime in Iran. Mr. Bollinger's sharp rebuke put Mr. Ahmadinejad in a box from which he could not escape.
Thank you, President Bollinger, for speaking so frankly, and without apology, to this little Hitler. And to the politicians and collective media that made total fools of themselves, you had it coming.

Gone Within A Year
Anyone dare to make a bet?
On Monday, Columbia University's president made a surprising introduction speech for his guest speaker, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran. Lee Bollinger called out Ahmadinejad for what he is: anti-Semitic, anti-human rights and a terrorist. I was astonished that the president of a very liberal Ivy League college would be so bold.
Here is my bet. How long will he be president of Columbia? I bet he is gone within a year! The president of Harvard University, Larry Summers, was asked a question concerning the number of women in hard sciences and mathematics at Harvard. If you read his answer, it was without insult or injury to women; it was merely an opinion. The feminists were in an uproar, gathered their troops and had him fired within the year.
Do you actually think Bollinger will be able to withstand the onslaught that is about to cascade from MoveOn.org and the bleeding-heart liberals who believe that anyone has the right to say what they want without response even if it is offensive to our country and all we believe in?
