DUNEDIN - A 16-year-old kite surfer remains in serious condition today after a gust of wind drove his craft into power lines Saturday.
Christopher Bryan Kenny, of 100 Sarasota Road in Clearwater, was kite-surfing on St. Joseph Sound just before 4 p.m. when a strong gust drove the kite into power lines on the north side of the Dunedin Causeway, authorities said.
Witnesses told deputies they saw an electrical arc, and then Kenny fell 20 to 30 feet to the ground.
Kenny, who was conscious but disoriented when bystanders reached him, was taken by ambulance to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa.
A nursing supervisor said he was in serious condition this afternoon.
