CLEARWATER BEACH - A man rescued from the Gulf by beachgoers Saturday afternoon was hospitalized in critical condition, authorities report.
The man, whose name was not available, was pulled from the water behind the Regatta Beach Club, 880 Mandalay Ave., at 4:37 p.m., a report said.
A good Samaritan initiated cardiopulmonary resuscitation, which was continued upon arrival of Clearwater Fire & Rescue paramedics, who were able to get a pulse.
The man, said to be in his mid-40s, was taken to Morton Plant Hospital in critical condition.
Although a marine warning was in effect, weather was not a factor, authorities said.
