TAMPA - A computer networking issue caused a delay in newspapers reaching subscribers of The Tampa Tribune on Saturday.
The paper, which typically arrives by 6 a.m., was delayed for several hours. The problem was fixed, and no delay is expected this morning.
The Tribune received more than 750 complaints as a result of the delay.
Bill Barker, vice president of operations, said the computer issue caused about a 90-minute lag for the printing presses to start running.
And the glitch came on a busy night of news as the University of South Florida's nationally televised home football game against the West Virginia Mountaineers pushed back normal deadlines.
'We were going to go late anyway because of the game,' said Graham Annett, vice president of circulation, 'so this just compounded the whole matter.'
Annett stressed that subscribers should not blame their newspaper carriers, who were left waiting as well.
'It wasn't the carriers' fault,' he said.
