Jeff Garcia continues to play at a high level. Garcia has been nothing short of remarkable the first three weeks of the season. He's escaped trouble, made big plays and inspired his team with his gutty determination. He'll need all of those elements as well as a good game plan to be successful today. On the latter front, he needs a scheme that calls for him to constantly move the play away from Julius Peppers. That should give him the time he needs to make good decisions with the ball and turn in big plays.
They can establish their running game and use it to set up play-action passes downfield. Carolina is 21-2 when RB DeShaun Foster runs the ball 15 times or more in a game. He is the key to the offense because he has the ability to gain big yards, wear down defenses and set up other options, such as play-action passes. Those passes force a linebacker or safety to freeze for a moment and that moment is usually all Steve Smith needs to get open, catch the ball and make an impact.
