A 57-year-old woman died in Polk County on Saturday after her 2005 Hyundai Accent crossed into the path of a truck, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
The Accent's driver, Donna B. Adams of Dundee, died at the scene.
The accident, which occurred about 7 p.m. just west of Lynchburg Road, began when James Burnett, 43, of Auburndale, was driving his 1992 Ford Ranger west on U.S. Highway 92.
The Accent, riding east on U.S. 92, entered the turning lane to head north and, for an unknown reason, pulled into the Ranger's path, a sheriff's office release states. The Ranger struck the Accent's passenger side.
Burnett and his son suffered minor injuries and were treated on the scene.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
