Former Teacher Accused Of Storing Child Porn Images

TAMPA - A former teacher and school technology support person turned himself in to the Orient Road Jail tonight on 60 counts of possession of child pornography.

Charles Russell Young, of Tampa, who will turn 63 on Thursday, is accused of storing images of children engaged in sexual activity on his computer, according to a news release from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

The accusations surfaced in December, while Young was a teacher at Pierce Middle School. Young and a school resource officer, Deputy Edward Perez, had a conversation about computers and the Microsoft Vista operating system, according to the news release.

While trying out the new operating system on Young's computer, Perez noticed a recently opened file with a title referring to oral sex with a 12-year-old, according to the news release. He contacted detectives, who interviewed Young and later obtained a warrant to search his computer.

The search turned up 60 pictures of boys in lewd positions and engaged in sexual activity, according to the news release.
