TALLAHASSEE - Not as many people are playing scratch-off and Lotto numbers games.
That means lottery income, which typically provides 5 percent of the funding for Florida's public education system, won't be as much as lawmakers thought when they first crafted the state budget.
Lottery revenue estimators met Wednesday, and they expect that there will be a dip of $46.9 million in the lottery education kitty, said Jackie Barreiros, lottery public affairs director.
Lawmakers had planned on about $400 million to help fund prekindergarten through 12th grade education and more than $60 million for the state university and college system.
