TAMPA - When a friend's mother called 911 on March 30 after Victoria Lindsay was beaten, she told dispatchers the teen had "blood in her mouth" and a "big old knot on her left eye," according to a 911 tape released today.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office, in response to a public records request, released the recording late this morning.
The mother of a friend of Lindsay's called 911 after her daughter picked up the teen at a CVS drugstore and took brought her to their house. Lindsay told the mother that her attackers dropped her off.
Authorities have not identified the caller.
"They told me to come over, that they needed me," Lindsay says in the recording.
"When she walked in the house, each one came out of a different room and attacked her," the woman told the dispatcher.
Eight teens have been accused of attacking the 16-year-old and videotaping it.
The sheriff's office will not comment about the tape because of a judge's gag order regarding the case.
The incident became a media sensation because the teenagers, according to the sheriff's office, planned to post the footage on MySpace and YouTube in retaliation for Lindsay trash-talking them online.
Brittany Mayes, April Cooper, Cara Murphy, Kayla Hassell, Brittni Hardcastle, Zachary Ashley, Mercades Nichols and Stephen Schumaker all have been charged with kidnapping and misdemeanor battery.
Hardcastle, Mayes and Nichols also are charged with witness tampering.
All of them are free on bail.
