Deputies arrested three armed robbery suspects within minutes of a man being held up in North Tampa early today, Hillsborough County sheriff's spokesman J.D. Callaway said.
About 1:20 a.m., Richard Davis, 24, had ended his shift at the Hip Hop Soda Shop at 1241 E Fowler Ave. and was walking along 15th Street near Fletcher Avenue when three people in a 2008 dark blue Dodge Charger asked him for directions, Callaway said.
A man and a woman got out of the car and the man pointed a handgun at the victim, Callaway said. The woman rummaged through Davis' pants, taking his wallet, a pocket knife and some keys. They then drove away.
Deputy Michael Miller arrived at the scene within minutes and dispatched a radio alert to other deputies about the robbery and gave descriptions of the suspects and their vehicle, Callaway said.
At about the same time that Davis was reporting the robbery, Deputy Joseph Florio was performing a traffic stop on a Dodge Charger near Leeds Court and 131st Avenue. The driver failed to turn on the car's headlights and failed to stop at a flashing red light. Florio talked to the driver and released the car, Callaway said.
When Florio heard the alert about the robbery, he quickly relocated the Charger within minutes at Leeds Court and Benbow Court, Callaway said.
Other deputies arrived and the three suspects were under arrest by 1:30 a.m., Callaway said. The victim's keys, wallet and pocket knife were found in the car and deputies also found a Daisy BB pistol under the rear passenger seat.
Deputies charged Dwayne A. Taylor, 27, of Lake Park, and Shayla S. McFadden, 21, and Chakyra N. Adderley, 18, both of Plant City, with armed robbery.
