A member of the Tampa Bay Storm during two championship seasons has been found fatally shot in his Orlando apartment, officials said.
Ivan Orsen Caesar Jr., 41, was found at 12:37 a.m. Monday at Tuscany Village apartments, 4855 S. Orange Blossom Trail, after Orange County deputies received a call about a man down.
The Orange County Sheriff's Office said investigators are looking for witnesses thought to have been in the apartment at the time. The agency released no other information today.
Born in the Virgin Islands, Caesar attended Boston College and played for the Minnesota Vikings in 1991 and the Philadelphia Eagles in 1993, according to the National Football League.
He played for the Tampa Bay Storm in the Arena Football League during 1995 and 1996, two years when the team won championships, team spokesman Brian Breseman said.
As a former Storm player, Caesar was arrested in 1997 on a charge of attempted strong-arm robbery after police said he approached Storm coach Tim Marcum at a practice game, grabbed him by the arm and wrestled him to the ground. Caesar, upset that he had not received his 1996 ArenaBowl championship ring, attempted to pry an Arena Football championship ring off Marcum's finger, police said.
Court records show Caesar was convicted of misdemeanor battery and received probation, which was terminated early.
Caesar was traded during the off-season in 1997, Breseman said. In his career with the Storm, he had 56 carries for 200 yards and 11 touchdowns, Breseman said.
Breseman had no additional comments on Caesar's death.
Records show that after leaving the Storm, Caesar played for the Portland Forest Dragons and the Milwaukee Mustangs.

Man, I used to live in Orlando. OBT is NOT the best part of town to be living in, unless you like hanging out with hookers, pimps, dealers, and various thugs...

Why was he living off OBT if he played pro sports. That's a low income housing area- putting it nicely. From his behavior this probably wasn't a random robbery. You can take the boy out of the hood... actually in this case he didn't even get out of the hood.

THAT COULD'VE BEEN ME!!! I was in Orlando at Universal just two years ago!!! Close call. Wow!
Guys like this always find the worst kind of trouble. Some athletes just can't reach proper behavior and responsibility.
Loss of life is always tragic. It's mystifying to me that so many with so much opportunity cannot pull their act together.

Hey IREADER; please tell me you weren't serious. However, I don't even get where you could've remotely been going with that from a sarcasm standpoint. Wow; that WAS a close call dude! I suppose it could've been you, if your name was Orsen Caeser Jr.! Unbelievable; some guy died in Orlando years after you visited an amusement park in the same area code! SCARY! Count your lucky stars pardner! You know; I was in LA 5 years ago at the Santa Monice Pier, and I heard that someone DIED in LA last week. I'm still shaken up over it. Lemme guess; you thought the "Twister" ride at Universal was REAL, and were also convinced that Y2K would end the world. It's OK to open those cans of soup now dude; Henny Penny told me so.
