DURHAM, N.C. - Scott Kazmir was all smiles after his rehab start for the International League's Durham Bulls on Monday night.
The Rays ace went 51/3 innings and allowed three hits, including a homer, and struck out three against one walk in a no-decision against the Richmond Braves.
The outing was scheduled to be the final rehab appearance for Kazmir, who is recovering from a strained elbow.
"I felt good and I felt strong," Kazmir said. "I felt good about this outing, and I'm ready to go pitch for the major-league team. The elbow feels good - I feel like I'm at 100 percent."
With veteran Mike DiFelice behind the plate for Durham, Kazmir was perfect through the first two innings before Richmond's Diory Hernandez hit a 2-2 change-up for a home run to lead off the third.
Kazmir threw 81 of his 85 scheduled pitches.
"I felt good about all my pitches," Kazmir said. "The slider, the fastball, and the change-up - except for that one pitch."
