SEFFNER - Seffner Christian waited until the last possible moment to stave off an upset bid from Bayshore Christian, but nonetheless the Crusaders got it done.
Seffner Christian pushed across four runs with two outs in the seventh to earn a come-from-behind 8-7 victory against the Faith Warriors in a Class 1A-Region 3 quarterfinal. The victory was Seffner Christian's first FHSAA postseason victory.
"Well, we made a little history today," Seffner Christian coach Jim Self said. "To come from behind like this at the end of the game, that's the type of win that can really get you going."
Ben Cock scored the game-winner for the Crusaders, coming around on an error when Robert Bull's single up the middle scooted past Bayshore's center fielder. Bull's hit also drove in Taylor Leggatt, who had kept the inning alive with a two-run triple to right.
Bayshore Christian raced out to an early 6-1 lead through four innings, thanks in part to a pair of RBI doubles from Garrett Stenholm. But the Crusaders chipped away at the deficit with three runs in the sixth, including two on a double from Cock, and completed the rally in the seventh.
Caleb Stenholm and Nathan Romo each had two hits for Bayshore. Bull led Seffner with three hits, while Cock and Leggatt had two hits apiece.
Seffner Christian will meet Cambridge Christian in a regional semifinal Friday at Doc Nance.

CAMBRIDGE 14, SONRISE 4: A four-run first inning for Cambridge set the tone early, and the Lancers coasted to a victory in five innings against Lakeland Sonrise Christian.
Senior Will Bakos got the victory for Cambridge, his first of the season, with one scoreless inning in relief of starter Matt Fishman. Fishman went three innings, allowing two runs on two hits with three walks and six strikeouts.
Cambridge coach Rick Shears went with Fishman instead of ace Michael Miller, but he had to pull the sophomore because he was having control issues.
"It was just a little form issue that we need to work with him on," Shears said. "Especially with his curveball, because he wasn't getting it down in the zone."
Lancers shortstop Trent Tagliarini went 3-for-3 with three singles, two RBIs, three runs and two stolen bases. Miller went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and three runs.
"Trent is a fantastic player and is doing a great job," Shears said. "Every facet of his game, from hitting to fielding to having an idea of how to play the game."

FORT MEADE 5, TAMPA PREP 4: The Terrapins added two runs after loading the bases with no outs in the final inning, but a base-running miscue and two fly outs to center field ended Tampa Prep's season.
Down 5-2, the Terrapins loaded the bases in the seventh on two walks and a Wes Jarrell single. A bases-loaded walk to Robbie Cribb brought in Corbin Hayes, and a sacrifice fly by Jake Rodriguez scored Jarrell. Rodriguez's fly ball to deep center was caught at the wall, and Jaylin Brown turned and threw past the cutoff man, catching Joey Bobo in a rundown between second and third. Bobo ran back toward second, but Cribb was occupying the base. Bobo was eventually tagged out before reaching third base, and Cribb returned to first. The Miners threw to second, where Cribb was initially called out, but the call was reversed and Cribb was allowed to stay at first. The play was made moot when the Miners recorded the last out on another fly out to center.
For the Terrapins, Chris Fenisey pitched 61/3 innings and struck out 10.
"I think we came out here with the mentality that nobody wanted it to end today," Fenisey said after the game. "I tried to do my best to keep it that way, but it didn't go that way."

ALL SAINTS' 6, BISHOP McLAUGHLIN 1: During the regular season, Bishop McLaughlin was a baseball team adept at pulling out close games, but Tuesday night continued a two-week trend of un-Hurricane-like baseball, according to Coach Nick Rodriguez.
Bishop McLaughlin, which started the season 14-1, committed three errors against Winter Haven All Saints' Academy in the Class 2A-Region 3 quarterfinal.
"Sadly enough, our last two weeks haven't been what I call Bishop McLaughlin baseball," Rodriguez said. "We haven't made the plays we're supposed to make. Not even difficult errors, just poor baseball."

PASCO 8, ST. CLOUD 1: In the first inning, it was obvious pitchers Nick Arscott of St. Cloud and Aaron Brandt of Pasco were nervous. Brandt settled down after the first inning and pitched his sixth complete game of the season, but the same could not be said of Arscott. Arscott gave up six runs in three innings, giving Brandt all the breathing room he needed for his sixth victory of the season.
Pasco (24-5) was led by Josh Johnson, whose three-run homer in the second inning gave Pasco a 3-1 lead. Johnson also doubled and scored in the third inning. The Pirates' Henry Johnson had hits in all three of his at-bats, driving in a run and scoring one.
The win gives Pasco a home date Friday with Nature Coast, in a rematch of the District 8 final, with a trip to the region final at stake.
