ORLANDO - The grandmother of a missing Florida girl says she won't explain what she meant when she said that "pieces of the puzzle" are coming together regarding Caylee Anthony's disappearance.
Speaking on NBC's "Today," Cindy Anthony said she doesn't want to jeopardize Caylee's safe return by publicly revealing information her daughter told her.
"Caylee's out there, and I'm not going to jeopardize her safe return," Cindy Anthony said Thursday.
Cindy Anthony's daughter, Casey Anthony, is being held on $500,000 bail, despite her attorney's court motions to reduce the amount.
This week, Cindy Anthony said she was closer to the truth about the circumstances surrounding the 2-year-old's whereabouts. She has declined to elaborate, though, instead blasting the Orange County Sheriff's Office for jailing her daughter.
Casey Anthony has been charged with child neglect, making false statements and obstructing an investigation. Police say the 22-year-old mother lied and didn't report Caylee missing for more than a month.
Cindy Anthony said she's frustrated with the way her daughter is being treated.
"They sheriff's investigators are looking for Caylee, but building a case against my daughter based on circumstantial evidence," she said. "You guys, the media, are trying my daughter right now for something she hasn't been charged with. Where is her rights?"
Casey Anthony hasn't been charged with her daughter's disappearance; she told detectives that she left the toddler with a babysitter. But detectives have not been able to verify that the babysitter exists.
Authorities said Casey Anthony claimed that she was conducting her own investigation into her daughter's disappearance, and that's why she didn't inform police.
