WESLEY CHAPEL - The plan called for trading a video game system and accessories for a pair of shoes and $100.
When one of the traders tried to back out of the deal, though, violence erupted and now two men face criminal charges, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office reported.
Aaron Nahgi Salem Afre, 19, of 28733 Raindance Ave., Wesley Chapel, was arrested Thursday on a charge of burglary with assault or battery. He was being held today in the Pasco County Jail with bail set at $150,000.
Jared Alexander Dasilva, 18, of 1519 Maximillian Drive, Wesley Chapel, was arrested on a charge of grand theft. He was released on $5,000 bail.
Afre and Dasilva had arranged to meet another man Thursday morning at the Tanglewood Club, 28429 Williamsburg Drive, Wesley Chapel, the sheriff's office reported.
The man, who arrived with two other people, had a Nintendo Wii, two video game controllers, four video games and a recharging station. He was to trade those for a pair of shoes and $100, the report said. The report did not specify the kind of shoes involved.
The man and one of the people with him claimed the shoes were counterfeit and the man said he no longer wanted to trade, the report said.
At that point, Afre approached the vehicle the three were in and began hitting the driver, dragging him from the vehicle and hitting some more as he lay on the ground, the report said. Dasilva grabbed the shoes and all the video-game equipment and they both fled, the report said.
The $100 was lost during the altercation, the report said.
The report said the driver suffered minor injuries, including abrasions on his knee and elbow, a laceration on his lip, several bumps on his head and road rash on his back.
