New Port Richey - A 66-year-old man was charged Friday with soliciting sex with children via the Internet - with a law enforcement official posing as a parent.
According to investigators, Richard J. Hannon, of 5110 Sandpiper Road, used the screen name "RichFL" to chat online with a person he believed to be a 38-year-old single mother of two children. The person actually was Chief Chuck McMullen of the Attorney General's Child Predator CyberCrime Unit.
Hannon and McMullen had 11 chat sessions between April 25 and May 23, in which Hannon asked to engage in sexual contact with two children, described to him as a 12-year-old boy and a 10-year-old girl.
On Friday, investigators executed a search warrant at Hannon's house and interviewed him. He admitted to using the screen name RichFL and to solicit sex with children.
He was being held Saturday at the Land O' Lakes Jail with bail set at $25,000.
