TAMPA - Police said they are searching for a bank robber who hit the Fifth Third Bank at 1901 W. Swann Ave. this morning around 9:45.
The suspect entered the bank and handed the teller a note with specific directions, including how he wanted the teller to collect the cash. While no weapon was revealed, he said that he'd kill the bank tellers if they did not cooperate. Upon receiving the cash, the suspect fled the bank, according to police.
The suspect is described as a black man between 30 and 40 years old, about 6-foot-1-inch tall, 240 pounds, medium complexion and full beard. He was last seen wearing a plain tan baseball cap, gold wire-frame prescription glasses, a white and black bandanna around his neck, a white T-shirt, baggy blue jeans and tan boots, and was carrying a small, dark-colored travel or toiletry bag.
Police said the man, whose face was captured on security cameras, used a similar technique in a robbery of a Fifth Third Bank at 3117 W. Columbus Drive on June 28 around 9:10 a.m.
Both investigations are ongoing.
