Palm Harbor Woman Slams Police Car, Faces DUI Charge

TAMPA - Deputies arrested a 26-year-old woman on a DUI charge after her car plowed into a stopped sheriff's cruiser, sending the squad car more than 90 feet into an intersection.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said Yvonna Szczeblewska of Palm Harbor hit the rear of the cruiser stopped at a traffic light on westbound Hillsborough Avenue at Webb Road about 3:40 a.m. today.

The impact between her 2003 Volkswagen and the deputy's Ford Crown Victoria pushed the Ford 93 feet, the sheriff's office said. The sheriff's corporal in the cruiser was treated and released from St. Joseph's Hospital.

Szczeblewska was charged with driving under the influence with property damage and is in the Orient Road Jail where she is being held under a $500 bond, jail records show.

She refused to take a breath test, the sheriff's office said.
