The Manatee County Sheriff's Office has reported the theft of 1,000 gallons of diesel fuel from a construction site in Bradenton.
According to authorities, it was stolen during the weekend from two of three 500-gallon tanks at the construction site, at 7500 State Road 70 East.
According to the sheriff's office report, the front entrance to the site was secured with a chain and lock, but the rear entrance was not secured. The three large tanks had locks on them. Deputies think the tanks were accessed through a drain cap.
The construction site is being developed by WES Inc. as a retail shopping plaza, said Tony Deloach, WES' owner. The fuel has a value of $4,000 according to Deloach.
The sheriff's office is reviewing video footage.
