Man Shoots Himself Near Bradenton Beach Concession Stand

BRADENTON BEACH – A 79-year-old man fatally shot himself in the chest while sitting on a bench behind the concession stand at Coquina Beach this morning.
Bridewell Tobin, of the 3500 block of 14th Street West, left notes for his wife and authorities explaining that he planned to kill himself, said Bradenton Beach Police Sgt. Lenard Diaz. Details about the contents of the notes were not released.
A concession stand worker heard the gunshot, saw Tobin limp and bleeding on the bench, and called 911 at about 9:30 a.m., Diaz said.
Tobin was pronounced dead at the scene. The gun, a .38-caliber revolver, was recovered by police.
