Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman was hospitalized in serious condition Monday after the car he was driving left a rural road in the Mississippi Delta and flipped several times.
Freeman, 71, was airlifted to the Regional Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn., about 90 miles north of the accident in rural Tallahatchie County.
The actor "has a broken arm, broken elbow and minor shoulder damage, but is in good spirits," according to a statement from Donna Lee, Freeman's publicist. A hospital spokeswoman said Freeman was in serious condition but would not discuss his injuries.
"He is having a little bit of surgery this afternoon or tomorrow to help correct the damage," Lee's statement said. "He says he'll be OK and is looking forward to a full recovery."
People Reveals $14 Million Babies
People magazine has published the $14 million photos of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's weeks-old twins, Vivienne Marcheline and Knox Leon.
The cover shows Pitt and Jolie snuggling the babies in a photo taken last week at the Chateau Miraval in Provence, France, where the Jolie-Pitt clan have hunkered down. There is also a shot of the couple's 2-year-old daughter Shiloh holding Vivienne. The money from the photos will go to a foundation created by Pitt and Jolie that largely focuses on helping children around the world.
The twins were born July 12 in Nice, France. They are the latest additions to the ever-expanding Jolie-Pitt family, which also includes 7-year-old Maddox, 4-year-old Pax and 3-year-old Zahara.
"It is chaos, but we are managing it and having a wonderful time," Jolie, 33, is quoted as telling People.
Mary-Kate Wants Immunity, Reports Says
Mary-Kate Olsen has refused to be interviewed by federal investigators probing Heath Ledger's accidental drug death until she is granted immunity from prosecution, the New York Post reports.
Ledger, who plays the Joker in the current blockbuster "The Dark Knight," died of an overdose that included OxyContin, according to the Post. Ledger's body was discovered by Olsen's masseuse in his SoHo apartment. The masseuse called Olsen in California, who sent her own bodyguards to the scene instead of calling emergency responders.
Now, the federal investigation into the sources of Ledger's drugs has run up against Olsen's lawyer, Michael Miller, who has repeatedly turned down the feds' attempts to question the actress. To the general public, Miller has said only, "We are not going to comment on whether there is a criminal investigation."
