Woman Found Dead After Jumping Into Sinkhole

HUDSON - Linda Margarette Finer jumped into a sinkhole known for its cave-diving Saturday afternoon.
She didn't come back up alive.
Sharon Allred told deputies she and Finer drove in a golf cart to the spot across from 7241 Stevens Drive about 1:30 Saturday.
When Finer, 45, didn't resurface, Allred, 46, ran for help. By the time help arrived, Finer was floating on the east bank, not breathing, and her lips were blue, according to a report.
Timothy Bowers, 50, lifted her out of the water, and David Wiley, 38, ran to call 911 while Bowers started cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Paramedics arrived and took over CPR, then took Finer to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point, where she was pronounced dead at 2:10 p.m.
Deputies say Finer, Allred, Wiley and Bowers had been drinking before the drowning.
