Want To Be A 'Price Is Right' Model? Come On Down!

TAMPA - Television's longest-running game show is looking for new models, and someone from the Tampa area could be sharing the stage with host Drew Carey.

A casting call for CBS's "The Price is Right" is scheduled for 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday at a cosmetic surgery center in South Tampa.

"We're really excited to be a part of this because we're relatively new," says Debbie Peterson, marketing director for The Landy Center for Plastic Surgery on 2835 DeLeon St.

She said the center has notified many of the clients of cosmetic surgeon Jennifer S. Landy. "It would be great for Tampa if someone from here was chosen," Peterson said.

The auditions, open to any woman in the Tampa-St. Petersburg TV market, are being taped by CBS affiliate WTSP, Channel 10, which will forward the tapes to "The Price is Right" producers.

One finalist from Tampa will join others from several markets including Dallas and Philadelphia.

In September, one winner from each market will be chosen to come to Los Angeles and audition for the producers. The top five finalists from those auditions will each have the opportunity to appear on an episode that will air October 20-24.

The winner will be chosen by an online viewer vote this fall.

Peterson said that as of today 15 applicants had signed up.
