SARASOTA - A judge denied bail for a teenager accused of beating a rival to death outside a house party.
Michael Mendola, 17, will remain in jail on a second-degree murder charge.
Mendola was in court this morning as his attorney requested a bail amount. Another teen charged in the case, 17-year-old Simon Mihailovic, did not appear in court. He is also being held without bond.
Prosecutors say Mendola has a history of violence, including two incidents in 2008 -- an arrest for disorderly conduct and a fight outside a party in March.
Circuit Judge Deno Economou said he would not issue a bond because of the teen's propensity for fighting.
Both teens could face life in prison for the beating death of Gregory Kennedy, 18, who was punched and kicked to death outside a party last week.
"It's obvious that (Mendola) is a very depraved and violent person," said Kennedy's father, Roland.
