New Port Richey - A dispute between two motorists over a tailgating incident a month ago has led to the arrest of a Port Richey man, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office reported.
Edmund Morris Carnes Jr., 51, of 9902 Richwood Lane, who is accused of pointing a gun at the other motorist and his girlfriend, was arrested Friday on two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, an arrest report said.
Carnes was booked into the Land O' Lakes Jail, but later released on $10,000 bond.
The dispute that led to Carnes' arrest happened about 7 p.m. July 9 when a man dropped off some friends at their car in a parking lot at 8605 Little Road, the report said.
Carnes, who was driving behind the man, began honking his horn and the man pulled away, the report said.
Carnes followed, driving close to the rear bumper of the man's truck until the man tapped his brakes, the report said. Both men then got out of their vehicles and began arguing, the report said.
During the argument, Carnes pulled out a gun and pointed it at the man and his girlfriend, who was sitting in the truck, the report said.
The altercation ended without further incident. The victim, who was not named in the arrest report, his girlfriend and the friends he had dropped off were later able to identify Carnes through a photo, the report said.
