TAMPA - Police are looking for suspects connected with the shooting Monday of two teens at a park on North 34th Street.
Arnolo Montgomery, 19, and Octavious Laundry, 18, were taken to Tampa General Hospital. Montgomery was shot in the stomach and is in critical condition, Tampa police spokeswoman Andrea Davis said. Laundry was shot in the leg and is in stable condition.
The shooting occurred about 8 p.m. at Fair Oaks Park, 5019 N. 34th St. about six blocks south of Hillsborough Avenue. A group of about eight teens were walking north on 34th Street when they passed another group of teens inside the park, Davis said.
The second group was hanging out, leaning on the fence that separated the basketball courts from the street, Davis said. Words were exchanged between the two groups.
Three teens from the group on 34th Street pulled out handguns and two fired into the crowd on the basketball courts, striking Montgomery and Laundry, Davis said.
"Fortunately, they weren't very good shots," she said.
Police are still at the scene and are searching for the shooters, Davis said.
