Clearwater Man Charged In Sex Case Involving Girl, Woman

Clearwater police say they have arrested a 19-year-old man for having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl, and a 21-year-old woman who allowed the relationship to happen.

Maury Lynn Scott of Clearwater is being held at Pinellas County Jail today, charged with felony lewd and lascivious battery, record show. Scott also is charged with violation of probation on a felony child abuse charge related to the 14-year-old girl, according to jail records and a city spokeswoman.

The woman, Victoria Elena Arbia of Clearwater, is charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a misdemeanor. She posted $150 bail and is not in custody, jail records show.

Police did not say how Arbia knows the 14-year-old and provided few specifics about the arrest, saying additional information would reveal the girl's identity. Because of the nature of the crime, her identity is shielded under state statutes, police said.

This much was revealed:

Police responded to a private residence in Clearwater about 2:30 p.m. Sunday after receiving reports of a loud fight. Officers arrived to find Scott, Arbia and the 14-year-old engaged in a water fight and dressed in their underwear, police said.

Further investigation revealed that Scott had been involved sexually with the 14-year-old on two occasions and that Arbia was aware of the relationship, police said.
