TAMPA - A rider injured in a motorcycle accident Friday has died, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Shannon Fondaw, 33, of Clearwater, died at St. Joseph's Hospital about 6:40 p.m. Tuesday.
Fondaw, riding a 2006 Suzuki, ran into the rear of a car on Hillsborough Avenue that was stopped at Longboat Boulevard about 11:10 p.m. Friday, the highway patrol said.
The rider was traveling at high speed and did not slow or try to avoid the car. Fondaw was thrown into the rear window of the car, then to the road in front of the vehicle, the accident report states.
The driver of the car, Jennifer Umstead, 27, of Tampa, was seriously injured, the highway patrol said.
Fondaw was wearing a helmet, and alcohol was not a factor, the report states.
No charges were filed.
