A Bradenton woman who ran a stop sign and struck a train Tuesday might be cited, the Florida Highway Patrol says.
Renee Raffensberger, 33, was westbound on 67th Avenue East in Manatee County about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday when she approached a railroad crossing where a train was backing southbound on the tracks, troopers say in a written statement released today.
There was a stop sign at the crossing and a traffic controller with a flag, troopers said.
The 2006 Toyota that Raffensberger was driving failed to stop and struck the rear of a tanker car, troopers said.
Raffensberger was airlifted to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg. Lt. Chris Miller of the highway patrol said she was released Tuesday after being treated.
