THE WIRE - THE COMPLETE FIFTH SEASON (not reviewed)
It's just as well that this acclaimed series ended with its fifth season, because the TV critics had exhausted their supply of superlatives in describing this gritty show about Baltimore. This time the struggles at the local precinct share billing with the interconnected ethical and financial crises at the Baltimore Sun.

SMART PEOPLE **½
Anyone looking for more ammo for the anti-intellectual crusade will enjoy Dennis Quaid's performance as a snobbish college professor who also happens to be a generally odious human being - though not much worse than his prissy daughter, played by Ellen Page - in this comedy about a family whose sense of entitlement greatly outweighs any actual virtues.

TRU CALLING (not reviewed)
This Josh Whedon series didn't last long on Fox, but true fans can now have both seasons packaged together, the better to savor the death-defying antics of star Eliza Dushku, a morgue worker who discovers the ability to rewind her day in order to save the corpse du jour. Complicating matters is Jason Priestly who prefers that the soon-to-be-dead stay that way.

BRA BOYS (not reviewed)
Russell Crowe narrates this documentary about a Sydney-based surfing subculture. The eponymous young men - a hardcore fraternity of tattooed, heavy-partying, working class types who happen to be obsessed with riding waves - apparently take their name from Maroubra, the beachside suburb that is their home.

THE SECRET (not reviewed)
You may want to shower after reading this blurb: David Duchovny and Lili Taylor are happily married, but after she gets offed in a car accident and then returns to possess the body of her teenage daughter (Olivia Thirlby), family dynamics get kind of complicated. It's like "Freaky Friday" meets "Ghost," with a side of Freud.

SOUTH PARK: THE COMPLETE ELEVENTH SEASON (not reviewed)
This three-disc set features all 14 uncensored episodes from the most recent series of the evergreen cartoon, still managing to find new ways to offend. That includes the Imaginationland cycle, "Lice Capades" and "With Apologies to Jesse Jackson" - in which Stan's Dad makes a major faux pas on "Wheel of Fortune."
