Two Democrats and three Republicans are vying for the nomination in their respective parties in the District 3 county commission race. Although commissioners represent the entire county, they must live in the district they represent.
Ann Hildebrand, the 24-year incumbent, faces two challengers in her party: insurance industry activist Wil Nickerson and electrician Matt Matey. The winner of that contest faces either Teresa "Terri" Conroy or Nicholas Planck, both Democrats, in the November general election.
In separate interviews, the candidates identified priorities for the west Pasco district and discussed how they would handle major issues. Voters will have their say Aug. 26.
