Polk Accident Kills Driver, Downs Power Lines

AUBURNDALE - A 27-year-old driver was killed this morning when the pickup he was driving overturned on State Road 655 and hit a utility pole, downing some power lines.
The victim, Ervin Allen Giberson Jr., 27, of Auburndale, was thrown from the truck and died at the scene, the Florida Highway Patrol said. The road will be been closed until about midday while utility crews make repairs, troopers said.
The highway patrol said Giberson was northbound in a 2006 Chevy truck at about 2 a.m. when he ran off the road a mile south of Auburndale and lost control.
