Sarasota - Boat ramps in Centennial Park in Sarasota will be closed until later this afternoon while authorities wait for a Navy team to arrive and deal with a military device boaters found on Saturday.
The Sarasota Police Department said boaters found the device floating near Big Pass and brought it to the Coast Guard station in the Van Wezel parking lot.
The device, thought to be used to disable mines, is about 5 feet long and 10 inches in diameter. It contains an explosive charge, police said.
A team Navy team from Jacksonville is expected to arrive in the afternoon and deal with the device.
