ANGEL DOMINANCE

The Angels' 15 1/2-game lead against second-place Texas entering Sunday was larger than the spread between the first- and last-place squads in the five-team AL Central (141/2 games). ... Despite dropping two of three at Cleveland during the weekend, the Angels are by far the best team away from home in the majors at 39-23 (.629). They're the only AL team with a winning road record and the Cardinals have the next-best mark at 37-29 (.561). ... The Angels are 27-13 (.675) against AL East opposition, easily the best of any AL team (Cleveland is next at 17-10).

BEATING THE BEST

The Rays are 18-7 against first-place teams and have gone 6-2 in eight series against teams leading their division when the series began. ... The Angels are 47-20 against opponents with winning records.

INJURY REPORT

Rays

LF Carl Crawford (right middle finger surgery), 3B Evan Longoria (right wrist fracture) and RHP Troy Percival (cartilage damage in right knee) are on the 15-day disabled list.

Angels

IF Maicer Izturis (torn ligament in left thumb) will undergo season-ending surgery Tuesday. OF Reggie Willits (concussion) also is on the 15-day DL.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

The Rays lead the season series 4-2, sweeping Los Angeles at Tropicana Field on May 9-11 and losing two of three in Anaheim on June 9-11. The Rays are 36-65 (.356) all-time against the Angels and 22-28 (.440) against them at the Trop.
