EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. - Brett Favre was having fun again.

His tearful retirement and tumultuous offseason were tucked away in his memory. Favre was back where he's always been happiest: in the huddle with thousands of cheers providing a perfect soundtrack.

"It's like starting all over again," the New York Jets' new quarterback said. "I had some feelings that I haven't felt in 17 years."

After throwing a touchdown pass to cap his second series against Washington in his Jets debut Saturday night, Favre urged Coach Eric Mangini to let him play some more.

"He said, 'Let me think about it,'" Favre said. "As he turned away, he turned back and said, 'I thought about it.'"

Sorry, Brett. You'll have to wait until Saturday against the defending Super Bowl champion Giants.

"This is one of those times where everything seemed to be clicking," Favre said. "We'd like to have scored on the first drive. All in all, it was good. I was OK with it."

Favre was solid in his brief Jets debut after a week of cramming to learn his new playbook. Just 10 days after being acquired from Green Bay, Favre finished 5-for-6 for 48 yards and threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to Dustin Keller in a 13-10 loss to the Redskins.

RAMS: Offensive guard Mark Setterstrom fractured his left kneecap in the second half of Saturday's preseason game and will be placed on injured reserve.

STEELERS: Safety Troy Polamalu could return to practice Tuesday. Coach Mike Tomlin indicated after weekend practices that the team is ready to remove Polamalu (hamstring) from the physically unable to perform list.

VIKINGS: Quarterback Tarvaris Jackson suffered a sprain to the MCL in his right knee, according to a person with knowledge of the situation, in Saturday's game against the Ravens.

Sunday's Game

LIONS 27, BENGALS 10: Lions quarterback Jon Kitna had a perfect passer rating of 158.3 for the second straight game, completing his three passes for 76 yards and a TD. He is 9-for-10 for 146 yards with a pair of TDs in the preseason.

Bengals receiver Chad Johnson hurt his left shoulder, landing awkwardly on his left side after cornerback Brian Kelly intercepted a pass thrown his way on Cincinnati's first series. Johnson rolled on the field in pain for several seconds, then went to the locker room for an examination. He did not return, and the team didn't provide any detail about the extent of his injury.
