TAMPA - A Plant City man disciplined two children Sunday, striking a girl on the hand with a plastic pole and striking a boy once on the leg, Hillsborough County deputies say.
Deputies arrested Demond Guion at 3:10 p.m. Sunday, charging him with two counts of child abuse.
Guion, 36, disciplined the children for leaving home without telling anyone, deputies say.
He struck the girl on the hand with the pole, grabbed her arm and threw her on the couch, a criminal arrest affidavit states.
Guion also struck the boy on the leg, picked him up by the shirt and threw him on the couch, according to the affidavit.
The girl is 7 and the boy is 4, sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter said.
Carter said the children are in a family member's care.
Guion, who was recommitted to jail the same day on a misdemeanor battery charge, had bail set at $4,500. He has since been released.
