TAMPA - After a Hillsborough County deputy saw Mary Caldwell driving erratically and pulled her over, Caldwell told the deputy that she only had consumed four beers, deputies say.
Caldwell had two children in the 2001 Chevrolet at the time.
Deputies arrested Caldwell about 1:36 a.m. Sunday. She was charged with driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license and two counts of child neglect.
Caldwell, 44, of Dover, drove part of her Chevrolet off Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard near Sydney Dover Road and was pulled over about 12:58 a.m., a criminal arrest affidavit states.
Caldwell's eyes were bloodshot, and the deputy could smell alcohol on her as Caldwell spoke, according to the affidavit. She told the deputy she didn't have a driver's license.
Breath tests recorded blood-alcohol levels of 0.128 and 0.127. Florida law presumes a driver is impaired at 0.08.
Caldwell remained in Orient Road Jail today. Her bail was set at $15,750.
The children, ages 9 and 10, respectively, have been placed in a family member's care, sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter said.
